Ocean Cruise Passport, Visa & Check-In Policies 2026

Cruise Passport Policy

A valid passport is required for nearly all ocean cruises that visit foreign ports. For U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (sail from and return to the same U.S. port), a birth certificate + government-issued photo ID may be accepted. We always recommend a passport.

Cruise Visa & Travel Document Policy

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and the ports visited. We provide a visa summary at booking. Passengers are responsible for obtaining necessary visas.

Online Check-In Policy

Online check-in opens 30–45 days before sailing. Complete it early to choose boarding time and avoid lines.

Boarding Time & Late Arrival Policy

Arrive at the port 2–4 hours before departure. Boarding usually closes 60–90 minutes before sailing. Late arrivals may be denied boarding with no refund.

Cruise Luggage Policies

Most ocean cruise lines allow two suitcases per person plus one carry-on. Oversized items, irons, and certain electronics are prohibited. Tag your luggage with the cruise line tags provided. Report lost or damaged luggage to Guest Services immediately.
